First Slice 7/22/14: Don't forget to vote in Georgia's runoff elections today

Georgia's primary runoff elections are today. So vote! Some DeKalb and Fulton polling places have changed locations due to a lack of air conditioning. And here's your handy guide to both the GOP U.S. Senate and DeKalb Sheriff races.

The Atlanta City Council has approved $1 million in annual Atlanta Streetcar costs. Meanwhile, riders will pay $1 for a one-way trip on the tram. City Hall will help cover its expenses using revenues from the hotel-and-motel tax and rental car fees.

In your daily gubernatorial roundup: Gov. Nathan Deal held a conference call with fellow GOP lawmakers yesterday morning and told them that he's "not going to leave anything on the table" in his re-election bid. His campaign also launched a #WeKnowNathan hashtag that got hijacked by many of his opponents. And another round of texts between Holly LaBerge, Georgia's top ethics official, and Chris Riley, Deal's chief of staff, have been released.

When will Georgia stop hating Atlanta?

"It's clear there's a significant amount of in-town resurgence, based on the development that's happening here, and the majority of it is within close proximity of our stations," says Amanda Rhein, MARTA's senior director of transit-oriented development. "So this is really just MARTA finally participating in that activity."

Friendship Baptist Church could finally be demolished this week to make way for the new Atlanta Falcons stadium. Some residents in the surrounding neighborhoods are still upset over the decision. "If you destroy Friendship, which is the lead church in the community," Pastor William L. Cottrell told WABE. "If you destroy that church, and then that's a step in the direction of destroying all the churches."
