Get This! Gallery has closed after a decade-long run in Atlanta. “The gallery had reached a point — a glass ceiling,” owner Lloyd Benjamin has told Burnaway. But he also believes this last year has been the gallery’s best. “I wanted to go out on a high note.”

Considered one of Atlanta's best galleries for innovative works such as Ben Roosevelt's 2012 dive bar installation The Blue Flame, it was named Best Gallery by staff and readers in Creative Loafing’s annual Best of Atlanta issue.

Benjamin, who plans to continue curating art shows through his new 4th Projects venture, refrained from sentimentality in his interview with Burnaway:

With the closure, Atlanta loses one of its edgier art venues. “People will take it any which way they want,” he says, declining to comment on the state of the art scene in Atlanta. “I hope they don’t dwell on it that long.” He knows it might be seen as a sad day, “but it’s not,” he says. “Galleries come and go. It’s a cycle.” Not having a brick-and-mortar space will give Benjamin a lot of freedom to pursue opportunities and projects with artists. “I’ll be able to entertain and explore whatever comes my way,” he says.

He also plans to focus on his framing business, Frame This, in the months to come.
