According to a new study by the UCLA school of law, allowing same-sex marriage in Georgia would inject nearly $80 million into the state’s economy and create nearly 1,000 jobs.

In the fun and familiar territory of unethical behavior that is not necessarily illegal, a complaint has been filed with the Dekalb County Board of Ethics regarding payments made by County Commissioner Sharon Barnes-Sutton to a man with whom she was romantically involved. Barnes-Sutton reportedly spent more than $35,000 of county funds for unspecified professional services provided by companies owned by Warren Mosby.

Representing more than 42,000 teachers across the state, the Georgia Association of Educators has endorsed Democratic gubernatorial nominee Jason Carter.

Tony Stewart will return to racing this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Already well known to NASCAR fans, Stewart vaulted to national prominence on Aug. 9 after he struck and killed driver Kevin Ward Jr. at Canandaigua Motorsports Park in upstate New York. Ward had exited his vehicle and was walking on the dirt track when Stewart's vehicle struck him. The incident is still under investigation by the local sheriff's office. Stewart has sat out three consecutive races since the incident.
