First Slice 9/2/14: Car dealers look to ban Tesla from selling electric vehicles in Georgia

Will Georgia be the next state to prohibit Tesla from selling electric vehicles? If the Georgia Automobile Dealers Association has it way, then yes.

Gov. Nathan Deal is hoping for an independent judge to settle the state's $74 million tax dispute with Copart, a Texas company who purchased his salvage yard operation, to make sure that there's "objectivity and fairness for all parties while bolstering public trust that every taxpayers gets treated equally under the law,” according to his spokesman. The governor and his business associate last year sold the company for $4 million, plus $120,000 annually to lease the land.

Atlanta Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of former officer Christopher Kitcho for, yes, impersonating a police officer. The 34-year-old police officer had resigned from the city's force on Aug. 19.

APD is also looking into the fatal shooting of Brandon Michael Gibson, a 21-year-old man who was killed inside the SkyHouse Midtown apartments, near the intersection of West Peachtree and 12th streets.

Bryan Hamada, a 26-year-old web developer from Georgia, has been accused by Reddit and 4chan user of leaking naked celebrity photos from Apple's iCloud backup storage system. Federal investigators have announced a probe into the matter.

An estimated 20,000 Georgia residents are at risk of losing their health insurance by the week's end if they fail to provide additional information to the federal government.
