Filming Updates:
>> The new Vacation , which follows the grown-up travails of Griswold son Rusty, has arrived. This means: prep and filming on Piedmont and Sixth Street during the first week of October. The production has also been in Tucker and on the westside, per Jennifer Brett.

>> The Nice Guys, the next film from Iron Man 3 writer/director Shane Black, will film here in November. The neo-noir stars Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe and female leads, Angourie Rice and Margaret Qualley.

>> Insurgent has wrapped production in Atlanta. Expect a first look at the footage by the fall.

>> “Powers,” a new series set to air exclusively on the Playstation that follows detectives and super-powered criminal cases, has been filming Downtown and at Oglethorpe University.

>> USA’s “Complications,” about an ER doctor (Jason O’Mara) who saves a young boy and in the process sets off a whole chain of life-or-death situations, is in production in Atlanta and has just cast four recurring roles.

Sightings:
>> Chloë Grace Moretz was back in town Tuesday night to host a screening of her new film, The Equalizer, at Phipps Plaza. Also appearing at the screening were Ludacris , various athletes, and Andi Dorfman (who, I’m told, was “fresh off of a date night” with Josh Murray). Here’s Moretz on the red carpet.

>> Jane Fonda was in town last week at a screening for the new film This Is Where I Leave You (also an even better book). The screening came during Fonda’s annual EmPower Party, benefiting her local charity GCAPP.

>> Random Dr. Oz break!

Deals & Payoffs:
>> Leslie Mann is in talks to join Vacation, opposite Ed Helms, as grownup Griswold daughter Audrey. Original stars Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo will also appear in their original roles.

>> The locally produced “Red Band Society” has received solid-to-glowing critical notices (it’s enjoyable, if you have your pleasure sensors tuned correctly!) but its premiere this week was fairly anemic.

>> Here’s a question: will Lifetime renew “Devious Maids”? The series was a buzzy hit after its debut ... two years ago. Ratings have dropped but not collapsed. However, the high production costs haven’t gone down.

>> “T.I. & Tiny: the Family Hustle” is still buzzing: VH1 will give Tinyher own spin-off, a cross-country venture with best friend Shekinah Jo.

>> The Investigation Discovery channel has resurrected TLC’s reality series “Women of Homicide,” which co-stars the Atlanta Police Department’s, Detective Summer Benton.

Miscellany:
>> The first full-length trailer for Mockingjay is heavy on grime and gloom and light on Atlanta. Although, there are a few seconds of what appears to be a rescue mission staged “in the capitol” (the Marriott Downtown).

>> This week I learned that Cobb County resident Aaron Beelner is starring in new indie film The Little Tin Man, and is a gracious, incisive interview subject.
