Yesterday, more than 170 demonstrations took place across the country to protest a St. Louis County grand jury’s decision not to indict Ferguson Officer Darren Wilson for the killing of Michael Brown. Protestors blocked roadways and interstates from New York City to Los Angeles.

In Atlanta, rallies were held at Atlanta University Center, Underground Atlanta, and Woodruff Park. Many demonstrators spent the evening marching through the city, blocking the Downtown Connector at one point. At least 21 people were arrested, including two reporters: CL freelancer John Ruch and 11 Alive photographer Tyson Paul, who were both covering the demonstrations.

Ohio’s rushing to pass a “secret executions” bill that, among other things, would provide anonymity to drug suppliers and greatly restrict the press and public’s access to information about executions. The move to pass the bill comes as a federally mandated moratorium on the state’s death penalty, implemented after a botched execution earlier this year, is set to expire in January 2015.

Don’t forget, Thanksgiving is tomorrow.
