Driver accused of hitting bicyclist, leaving scene in southwest Atlanta charged with vehicular homicide

Calvin Foster was walking along sidewalk on Cleveland Avenue

Atlanta Police have arrested the man whom they say struck and killed a bicyclist over the weekend and then fled the scene.
?
?Roman Redding, 32, has been charged with vehicular homicide, failure to maintain a lane, and leaving the scene of an accident.
?
? APD officers say a man, later identified by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office as Calvin Foster, was walking his bike on the sidewalk on Cleveland Avenue early Sunday morning when he was hit by a car.
?
? A witness told officers that the 2003 Chevrolet Malibu was swerving before it hit the 41-year-old Atlanta man, who died at the scene. The driver fled and, APD says, was tracked by a K9 officer “before the trail was lost.”
?
? Redding received treatment for his injuries at Grady Memorial Hospital and has since been transported to Fulton County Jail.
?
?The killing was the 8th pedestrian death in Atlanta this year, according to the police department. APD reported 18 pedestrian deaths in 2014.
