First Slice 11-6-15: Georgia Water Coalition names 12 worst threats to state’s waterways

The Georgia Water Coalition has released its 2015 “Dirty Dozen” list, outlining the worst offenses to the state’s waterways. The organization is calling on leaders and residents to help correct major problems, which this year include polluted discharge in the Chattahoochee River, offshore drilling threatening fisheries on the coast, and toxic waste possibly related to cancer diagnoses in Waycross.

?Advocates for Latino voting rights say that Georgia’s Spanish-speaking constituents are getting left out because of English-only ballots. Activists are seeking bilingual ballots in Gwinnett and Hall counties.

He didn’t say fleece my sheep and what this looks like is some people fleecing some elderly adults,” says Cobb County Chief Assistant District Attorney John Melvin in response to a lawsuit accusing the Moody Bible Institute of Chicago of preying on the elderly to get a cut of their money when they die.
