It feels like 2008 all over again. Jeff Francoeur is in a Braves uniform, the Internet is insufferable thanks to election season, and comedy is back at Relapse Theatre. Since re-opening its doors this spring, this Midtown church-turned-performance venue has welcomed heavy-hitters like Eddie Pepitone and T.J. Miller. This Sunday it welcomes back two of its former regulars Dave Stone and Andy Sandford. Two of the most prominent comics to come out of the A, Stone and Sandford learned how to be funny in Atlanta, later joining forces to tour the country with comedians Joe Zimmerman and T.J. Young as the Beards of Comedy. This spring, the two team up with Los Angeles-based comedian Ryan Singer for the 3 Headed Moron tour cutting across the Southeast.

Stone is a true Georgian and carries that spirit into his act, ruminating on all things Southern: from biscuits to talk radio, to the friendly-to-a-fault nature of Georgia drivers (maybe not in Atlanta, but). Stone’s wit and down-to-earth charm enables him to turn the everyday into something hilarious. Last year, Stone recorded and released his debut solo album, Hogwash, recording at Atlanta’s Laughing Skull Lounge and appeared on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.” He was also featured on Vice’s “Flophouse,” and “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.”

Much like Stone, Andy Sandford still reps Atlanta all the way from his current home of Brooklyn. In addition to recording his debut album, Me, the Whole Time, at Little Five’s Star Bar, Sandford returned last October to once again go on the record at the dive bar, this time for his first stand-up special. Sandford’s a truly well-rounded comedian, expertly delivering a mix of shorter, observational jokes, as well as long anecdotes. It’s Sandford’s skill as a storyteller where he really shines, weaving well-crafted jokes throughout an already hilarious five- to 10-minute story such as his brush with the law (and a very chatty cellmate) or the ultimate McDonalds drive-thru mix-up as you can hear on his album. Capping an already great year, Sandford made his TV debut last May on “Conan.”

The third comedian/admitted moron, Ryan Singer, is no stranger to Atlanta having toured through the city many times. Singer is definitively more high energy than his tour buddies delivering jokes with a cool youth pastor/groovy yogi vibe as he takes the audience down a highly imaginative rabbit hole. Between producing three albums, including this year’s Immortal For Now, Singer hosts the popular podcast “Me and Paranormal You,” during which he interviews people who possess paranormal abilities or have had extraordinary experiences.

See all three headliners for the price of, well, half a headliner this weekend. And as if this tripleheader wasn’t enough, local gems Samm Severin, David Perdue, and Michael Rowland open.
