Economic outlook not so good for Downtown gambling says a report from Central Atlanta Progress. Yes, casinos might generate hundreds of millions in tax revenue, but it's difficult to tell how much of that is actually new money. "The report concluded that the majority of visitors would be locals, not tourists, and that spending in casinos could 'cannibalize' spending that might have gone to nearby restaurants, museums or concert halls and in turn undercut other state and local tax collections."

"Hillary Clinton claimed the Democratic presidential nomination on Tuesday night after decisive victories in the California, New Jersey and New Mexico primaries, and she quickly appealed to supporters of Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont to unite with her against Donald J. Trump."

Atlanta City Councilmembers are debating whether a proposed TSPLOST — half-penny tax for city rail projects, half-penny for streets and sidewalks — would make the state's sales tax too high. If approved by voters in November, Georgia would be looking at a 9 percent sales tax. "Councilman Howard Shook noted that in just the last seven months, Atlanta voters have been asked to renew the city’s penny sales tax for water and sewer projects as well as Atlanta’s Educational Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (E-SPLOST), both of which were ratified. He suggested voters might not be willing to keep approving more taxes. 'Is there a limit to people’s appetite for considering this?' Shook asked."

O4W pizza is ... moving to Duluth? A sign posted at the restaurant's storefront in the Irwin Street Market said, "We initially did not know what to expect when we came here to the OLD FOURTH WARD so we only signed a one year lease and have been vigorously looking for a new location here in the OLD FOURTH WARD since July of last year. Unfortunately we have had no luck."

Demo crews have arrived at the Masquerade.

A shootout on I-20 had nearly all lanes near Panola Road in DeKalb County closed for two hours yesterday. "A tow truck hauled away the gray Chevrolet Malibu riddled with bullet holes about 8:05 p.m. Seven holes could be counted in the windshield. Police on the highway had at least five cars with bullet holes pulled over as part of the ongoing investigation."

Tormund, aka Kristofer Hivju, who's been in town shooting Fast & Furious 8, thought it'd be fun to drop in on the Bookhouse's weekly screening of "Game of Thrones" last weekend.  According to comments on his Instagram, it was!
