Your food review lost me at "smoky".
"Quoc Huong does have the distinct advantage of offering a stellar "barbecue" pork banh mi — well spiced, smoky, and tender."
I really wanted to like WSS and I'm sure I'll be back, but I was very disappointed that there was no bbq pork. And my sandwich was cold by the time she finished making my girlfriend's. I enjoyed talking to Q but was in a hurry and didn't really want it to add 5 minutes.
I have a hard time thinking of a restaurant I had a worse experience at than UC. The setup is stupid (and they try to make you feel stupid when you don't realize what you're supposed to do), service sucked, we waited over 45 minutes for food, and the po-boy was mediocre.
English Ave/Vine City is also "a mile away" from Georgia Tech, and I dont think anyone living there would say "I live around Georgia Tech." (Sometimes its not about distance its about character, but in the end, who really cares anyway?)
It's not "near' it's "a mile away." That's like saying, "it's not hot, it's only boiling." Talk about grasping for straws.
Hey Mr. Kaplan,
No big deal about our disagreement about what is considered "around Cheshire Bridge". Keep up the work at CL. Hope the magazine/paper makes it. Maybe the future is in the electronic edition? !
You're reading it.

what a stupid review....
CL sucks, as usual....
Don said it was Ladd. Im going with Don.
Bring back the fried chicken Nick- it was sooo good.
They took the fried chicken off the menu and that is NOT Ladd.
Ahhh, haters gonna hate, thanks Trash.
Perry - I do know the geography well, I just guess my definition of "around Cheshire Bridge" is different than yours.
Loriming - haven't tried the fried chicken there, thanks for the suggestion.
And, Mayor, I could have mentioned that Cheryl Ladd poster (it is still up in the bathroom - is that really Cheryl Ladd?), but decided not to go there... : )
errr... my experience at The Nail.
I had the best fried chicken I've ever eaten there. They also pour a damn fine drink.
Review itself is OK. But first line about this bar being on or near Cheshire Bridge is not really correct. It is on Buford Highway, a mile away from Cheshire Bridge. Either this reviewer did not really go there or doesn't know geography of Atlanta at all. But it is a good neighborhood "dive" bar and restaurant.
... thanks once again for another "review" that sounds like it's directly from yelp, where it belongs...
Went to We Suki Suki again today and it was excellent. The sandwich preparation time has sped up a bunch. Can wait to go again.
Go for the imitation if you have no choice but I would get the authentic stuff if I can. No one beats Quoc Huong!
Pie Shop: That is great to know. Thank you for responding and offering that option. Very much appreciated.
i want to amend my comments about Q. went there today and she was pleasant and super-sweet. yes, she is a bit of a nut, and yes, it takes a bit of getting to know her to warm up to her flamboyant persona, but it's all part of the experience. i really enjoyed conversing with her (she said tips go toward feeding people in EAV...and that she is a Buddhist. LOL. i thought that was cute). And the sandwiches were insanely good! for four bux....you just cannot beat that.
you made a choice to go there and "waste" 7 minutes, zed. and it's there - you just have to dig around. i don't recall which thread it is in - maybe the one about we suki suki.
