Yeah I have to disagree with this one. A quick glance at his website, and it seems difficult to reconcile "green energy" with his pledge to be "against Obama’s cap and trade legislation". Also, how can he be a free market champion and then control private utility prices - or expect him to step in to keep prices low?
Thank you Loafer Mag for your left wind dip shit picks. You just made it easier for me to vote on some of the races I wasn't up to speed on. Tea Party = Patriotism
Regardless of your choice in this race, I have to disagree with your rationale. If you're more liberal-minded, voting for a conservative candidate who doesn't agree with your views simply because he can clamp down on the crazies (your words, not mine) doesn't make any sense at all.
If anything, allowing the crazies to run a muck for awhile, while perhaps detrimental in the short term, would actually be in your best long-term interest.
I'm not even endorsing Porter, I'm simply saying I fail to see the logic in your reasoning.
Amendment #4 (efficiency/savings-financed energy improvements to state facilities) is a really smart idea. Very much in the spirit of all the public-private partnerships that Republicans go all gaga over when we're talking about toll lanes. Except this time it makes sense and doesn't stick the general public with extra expense (like pay HOV lanes).
Yea...not happy with CL's choice to take a political stance instead of giving a subjective rundown of all the candidates. Personally, I think it's an abuse of media power. What other purpose does this article serve than to influence lazy and/or uneducated voters? Real classy. Additionally, I find it hard to believe that all of the CL staff are in agreement with this. And it's off-putting for CL to ignore the fact that not every CL reader is left-wing. Way to be considerate.
I am going NO on all of them except for #5 because people who own property should MOSTLY be allowed to do with it as they please.
*Reads like it was dictated by a lobbyist*? No doubt it was.
not included here is a review of the Agricultural Commissioners race- this is pretty important since we all eat. In a nutshell- the Dem, JB Powell is pro raw milk sales and family farms, the Rep, Gary Black was a lobbyist for Monsanto before running.
What, no endorsements for Senate? I mean, I'll assume that you'd support Mike Thurmond, but I'm more interested in knowing your reasons why.
I agree with oydave (God help me!), you do a good job laying out your case for the endorsements you do make. And, frankly, the reasoning - more than the actual endorsement - is what I find most useful, even if I do share most of your values.
I don't understand.....do none of you know who Nathan Deal is?
Uhhh, has anybody else noticed that the Supreme Court race is not included ?!? WTF ? Kinda important race to forget about ... What say you CL ? Got a dog in that race ?
Echols has a "firmer grasp of the issues?" Explain.
In the past, I remember CL giving Cagle kudos for being (relatively) reasonable compared to your run-of-the-mill Georgia Republican. So wouldn't it make more sense to vote for a Republican who might be able to clamp down, to some degree, on the crazies in his party....rather than a political novice who, even if she wins, won't have any power to do anything?
I will be voting NO to proposition 3 which gives GDOT more spending flexibility. Thought the problem was they already had to much debt? Also why would I want to make it easier for GDOT to do what I view as counter productive transportation projects? When GA finally gets serious about making smart transportation investments then maybe I'll say yes to spending more of my tax dollars (which this has the effect of doing). But for now I'll say no.
OMG you guys are COMMUNISTS and SOSHULISTS!!!! And on and on and on.
I appreciate this and will certainly use it to help me make my voting decisions...although it would be nice to hear CL's opinions on all of the candidates and ballot measures, not just the endorsements. I value hearing CL's opinions, but it's not as helpful if y'all cover just ~10-50% of our options in each category.
No in seriousness the debates I have had here especially with InAtl, Nad and Oydave have enlightened my mind and changed my perspective on many issues that I did not fully understand.
When I was wrong I admitted it, when I disagreed I said it and stated why or had already stated why.
I would like more that when people say that what I think is wrong that they show me why they beleive I am wrong as I usually do with them.
I enjoy being rebutted but need one thing - why am I wrong?
We can only grow and change when we are challenged and forced to look inward at our views. Calling someone a name or just disagreeing to be disagreeable leads to no meaningful dialogue or change. The life unexamined is not worth living
Good job CL for endorsing a candidate that doesn't support gay marriage or the decriminalization of marijuana. You guys need to grow up and endorse a candidate that actually supports the issues that you claim to hold dear.
Vote John Monds for Governor!
