Re: “Meet Derrick Grayson, 'The Minister of Truth,' yet another U.S. Senate candidate

"That ranges from repealing all gun control laws for law abiding citizens to legalizing and regulating hemp and marijuana to keeping the government 'out of our bedrooms.'"
_______________________________________________________________

Does staying "out of our bedrooms" also include the woman's right to choose? The Republicans are really big on libertarianism until they are not.

Re: “'The Atlanta Way' documentary filmmaker discovers why 'gentrification' is a four-letter word

Sounds fascinating, and I'd love to see this. I wonder if any place in town would be brave enough to show it.

Re: “Meet Derrick Grayson, 'The Minister of Truth,' yet another U.S. Senate candidate

Let's see if he's legit. If he is, the Republicans will shun him because they will be scared of his message. The Democrats will shun him because he's black and is not voting Democrat. I hope he makes it, he has a basic and refreshing message....follow the constitution!

Re: “Do black arts festivals have a future?

Wonderful article! While I DO think the need for Black Arts Festival is still present, I agree that they need to change focus, programming and execution ASAP! The current model is not only outdated, it's boring. Young artists of African descent are breaking barriers, playing with new mediums and exploring a wide array of themes. The focus should be on exposing the world at large to the diversity of "black" art, it's ever rising place in "high" art circles and it's importance and relevance to the art world at large.

Re: “Meet Derrick Grayson, 'The Minister of Truth,' yet another U.S. Senate candidate

haha dude is a veteran too

how come people who are always bashing on big government tend to be completely dependent on government for their education, healthcare, employment etc. like that dude at RNC 2012 who owned a company that manufactured road signs and who got mad at the stimulus for giving his competitors more contracts than he got

Re: “Meet Derrick Grayson, 'The Minister of Truth,' yet another U.S. Senate candidate

"Now enters Minister Derrick Grayson, a MARTA senior network engineer.

"The erosion of personal freedom and liberty as a result of federal policy and legislation is alarming," Grayson said today in a statement. "Instead of encouraging job creation, current policies promote a culture of dependence on big government and welfare programs.""

god save us from nerdy libertarians. i'd much rather deal with a biblical conservative than some linux sysadmin, at least the biblethumpers can recognizes their illogical dogma. in my experience your techie libertarian types decide on a set of assertions then spend years constructing a house of cards collection of self-reinforcing axioms which vaguely resembles a coherent worldview as long as you don't breathe too hard near it

also lmao at a senior MARTA employee decrying big government and welfare programs. if this guy was a hot shit coder he'd be in the private sector

Re: “Paramore plays the Tabernacle

I'm too young to understand the bulk of what you say. And that many T's in the word "hot" is a little creepy when talking about young girls.

Re: “D.R.E.S. tha BEATnik fighting for ATL

why do you hate black people and their culture as expressed in underground rap, jr?

contrary to your professed beliefs, blacks are no more likely than other races to have "rampent" pretentiousness and they can be just as talented and skilled as everyone else.

i'm glad everyone is out to get you. you're a racist dum-dum.

Re: “MARTA: Bus involved in train collision got 'stuck' on railroad crossing

this was in decatur, not atlanta.

poop, your normally high levels of satire are slipping somewhat. vox himself never confuses atlanta with decatur.

frankly, i expect a poop-based satirical profile to do better.

Re: “City Council OK's Downtown Ferris wheel construction, allows Atlantans to forge memories that will last a lifetime

"I don't get this complaint: It's going to be literally across the street from the Centennial Olympic Park. As such, it will be perceived as part of the park attractions and will expand the public's impression of the footprint of the park, just as the Aquarium and World of Coca-Cola do on the north boundary of the park."

---------

That parking lot is across from the park, yes... but it is a parking lot. Next to buildings. If you visited the park during the Final Four, there was a Ferris wheel set up in the park and it offered great sweeping views of downtown and integrated into the spirit of the park beautifully. This one will be placed next to building in a tight, paved spot. Just does not seem that appealing to me.

Once again, the ineptitude of Atlanta City Government has resulted in a completely preventable disaster. When will voters say enough is enough and fire the leaders responsible for turning our city into a big fat joke? I guess some people are content to be living in The Laughingstock of the South.

Re: “D.R.E.S. tha BEATnik fighting for ATL

The Gorgeous One speaks of the "underground rap" art form and the general lack of progression (from 1987), overall lack of talent and skill, and rampent pretentiousness.

That's not to say the likes of Black Star, The Roots, Thirstin Howl and maybe a few others didn't elevate and progress the "underground" sound but it's few and far between.

Re: “Georgia Supreme Court reprimands Democratic Party chairman for ethics violations

Better still, read the Raleigh News & Observer's editorial today about the follies of the Chair of the NC Democratic Party. Here is a link to the editorial:

http://www.newsobserver.com/2013/05/22/291…

Our Democratic Party leaders need to get very serious about what's going on in each of the states in our country: radical right-wing conservative extremist who have taken over the Republican Party are following a carefully laid out strategy to seize political control of the governor's office, the state senate, the state house, and the supreme and other appellate courts, not to mention local elected positions from local judgeships, mayors and county commissioners etc. in every state. And they are doing it. They are funded by a cadre of equally radically right-wing billionaire ideologues like the Koch brothers. They use ALEC to supply them with the virtually identical right-wing agenda model bills to be passed in every Republican state and signed into law by every Republican governor.

The Democratic Party must mount a furious opposition to this radical right juggernaut in every state and locality. We can't play into the hands of these radically revolutionary extremists Republicans who seek a corporate, free market-plutocracy takeover of our country. To do this we need Democratic leaders who get it, will fight back, and will not bring with them into the political battles this kind of distracting baggage which provides ammunition for these powerful adversaries to use against them and the Democratic Party itself.

Re: “MARTA: Bus involved in train collision got 'stuck' on railroad crossing

Wowza. I'm glad everybody is OK. GDOT should fast track this long overdue public safety project. I lived down the street from here for 3 years, and I was amazed at how many cars would just stop at the traffic light, their car sitting on the tracks with no possible escape. Insanely dangerous. I have to ask: Did anybody get a video of the crash?

If you think this is bad, check out what the Chairman of the North Carolina Democratic Party has been up to lately. Here is a link to an article in the Raleigh News & Observer from a few days ago:
