"There's no need to throw away expired meds. They only lose effectiveness."
While there is a certain leeway in terms of the expiration date, expired meds do eventually breakdown into a different chemical structure. Since this "new chemical" did not undergo extensive animal and human drug trials like the substance that went on the market it is better to not take the chance.
"Not deserving of hate mail, for sure, but neither is it deserving of serious consideration. The modern GOP is no more like the Klan than the modern Democrat party, which has an actual connection."
Substitute "old Democrat party" for "modern Democratic party" and you may have a point, Oy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the modern Democrats have a majority Black delegation in the Georgia legislature. To state that they are related to the Klan is obviously a partisan statement. On the other hand, there is no denying the racial makeup of Georgia's modern GOP delegation would make Frazier Cross feel right at home.
And yet another reason the team should be named the "Kasim" is that Kasim Reed can unify all groups of people. Such powerful emotions he invokes in people, a true inspiration.
Imagine 70,000 soccer fans all chanting "Let's go Kasim!" cheering the team to victory and giving all of Atlanta a source of pride.
I get goosebumps just thinking about it; I hope the MLS leaders have the foresight to let it happen.
"letting an old man rest. "
I woke up after a day dedicated to him and read this:
"We can talk about baseball. Talk about politics. Sure, this country has a black president, but when you look at a black president, President Obama is left with his foot stuck in the mud from all of the Republicans with the way he's treated.
"We have moved in the right direction, and there have been improvements, but we still have a long ways to go in the country.
"The bigger difference is that back then they had hoods. Now they have neckties and starched shirts."
Not deserving of hate mail, for sure, but neither is it deserving of serious consideration. The modern GOP is no more like the Klan than the modern Democrat party, which has an actual connection. It's the age affecting him.
Vox, based on your past commentary in the area of race-based situations...your opinions about how far this country has come in terms of race-relations doesn't exactly hold much weight.
Hank Aaron receive the same vitriolic-style racist letters NOW as an old man...as he did as a young man. Folks are simply incapable of giving him his due and letting an old man rest.
How cowardly and craven is that?
This simply shows that no matter what the decade, humanity does not change. And jerkoff southerners...are still jerkoff southerners. And good sportmanship means absolutely jacksquat in this region.
Not that you really care, anyways.
Just thought I'd point that out, for what it's worth.
@Vox and anyone else who isn't here just to spitefully complain for the sake of it:
At the ceremony, Blank stated the team name (and therefore logo) is up in the air and should be decided by the fans. So stay tuned. Also, the colors will likely be red, white, and gold (similar to the old Falcons colors, their words); they handed out nice, free scarves featuring Atlanta MLS 2017 in those colors. There were comments from a Miami-based Univision representative about a "bet", I still think they'll try to start a rivalry there, but you never know. DC or Miami, it'd make for a fun road trip...
@ sherman's march
"Using Atlanta's antebellum/slavery era name for a team representing a majority black city seems pretty tone deaf."
When your only tool is a hammer, you treat everything like a nail.
Where do we go to dispose of unneeded apostrophes?
@Jvoice You already "live next door to someone who is being subsidized." It's called the Housing Choice Voucher Program (AKA Section 8). Mixed-income developments are a much more effective way to house the poor, versus clustering them all together in poorly served communities with poor access to employment opportunities. That was the old way.
@Jvoice Simmer down, princess. Your fan club full of fat asses got within sniffing distance of a few big wigs, and you're getting arrogant already. Get over yourselves.
Wow Sherman has somehow managed to introduce race into the soccer team already, never fails. He must know Leroy and Mark.
If any of you "know it all's" want to put up your millions, I am sure they will consider your opinions on the name, until then attend or not, who cares.
Sounds good to me, makes selling my condo at a reasonable price easier!
Hey its what the market will tolerate, that's the way it works, if they can get it fine, if they cant they will lower the prices. Not aware that they owe anybody anything, they stuck their money into the dump, they want to get it back out.
BTW, what happened to equality? Why should someone get lower rent than another person for the same space/location? Why would I pay 3.5k/month to live next door to someone who is being subsidized? Maybe we should all quite working and just get free rent, is that the Portland dream? Besides poor people cant afford the $300 running shoes, and fancy French bicycles for the beltline experience... oh wait, surely there is a program for those too!
People coming from California and the Northeast will think that these prices are a steal. The rest of us...eh, not so much.
I came to Atlanta for a two-year a fellowship program and stayed - a lot of the people in my program who moved here directly from New York and Boston waaaay overpaid for their houses, and it took most of them about a year to realize it!
Meanwhile, I was coming from Central Africa - not only did I decide not to buy until I knew the local market, I bargained with my landlord and got 10% off the rent.
At those prices, it's going to be a lot of out-of-towners renting in that place. My guess would be that Emory Law School and Business School (but not the School of Public Health!) will have a lot of students living in that building.
You JELLY Simple Pete??? Class envy I suspect.
Open it up to a design competition, there are some great marketing/design firms as well as some world class universities that I'm sure would enjoy being involved.
Resurgens with some sort of pissed off looking phoenix:
It would match up well with the new stadium:
And fit right in with the Falcons, Hawks, and alas the departed Thrashers.
As good or better than most of what's out there: http://www.prostamerika.com/2013/12/24/201…
(And make the DC United logo look like a wuss in comparison)
The (Terminus) Legion of Doom can still be the original and quasi official support clubs for the team, which in itself is worth braggin rights.
There are supposed to be 52 units at a lower rate due to an affordable-housing agreement attached to funding for the project. At least that was the original plan. Anyone know if that's still the case?
Well there's your affordable housing the Beltline is bringing to our city. /sarcasm
Wow, what a laughable market rate. At 3.5K, why wouldn't I just buy a house in Poncey-Highland, with a vacation home elsewhere?
HOW perfect, astrologically high prices for "loft spaces" (blllecccchhhhhh) for this dump of an urban hostel. I haev said before the old Factor should be RAZED and turned into an affordable grocery or retail place (wegmans, food depot) so there is some COMPETITION with the wetwristed "fanccy Whole Foods market and upper crust snooty Publix up the road
Yes young urban acheivers pile into these decrepit lofts and bring dump trucks of money for the privilege of "q-dooba" and "smoothy king" along with a Home Depot (good company) only frequented by in-town liberals trying DEPERATELY to cram 2x4s into their Fiats lol!!! And we cannot forget "EATS" up the street which i had THE worst eating experience served by a man with long "rope hair" and there was also clutter and I found hair IN my cornbread. THIS is what intown midtown has to look forward too with this new "development"....more foolish young kids HUNGRY to overpay for a life of faux opulence;; what a joke
this term "STUDIO" grinds my gears like no other;; what is it for art?? easels (sp?) and large "murals" going in everywhere NO; probably not; just one burnout-dropout after another bowing down to high taxes and rent (GO BUY!!!! SUPPORT THE ECONOMY!!!) in the trend-setting city!, of course! it is not reasonable to assume that this place with appreciate in value either, after it is mauled with fltty customers on the weekend to its tacky "local food" eateries and depressing coffee clatches filled with beep beep boop boop young college zombeys with their blank expresions and headphones never ONCE looking to make conversation; BOOM shall the market plumett. and this place will resume its previous state of empty GHOST TOWN former city hall
to conclude ENJOY "ponce city market" well you can. it will be the rubble laughing stock of the powerful perimeter district and FUNCTIONAL areas with pride and success like Dunwoody or marietta. you can pay $3000 a month for 3 nice mortages on affordable 3/2s in acworth or dallas, making money in the real estrate business and enriching local muniipalities OR you can have a hovel in the HEART of panhandlersville in this new BUST of a condo complex thank you
The dumpster behind Murder Kroger is much, much more affordable.
