World Domination Theatresports Tournament, Summer Shade Fest and more

Perhaps best known for its consistently original shows that demonstrate outrageous creativity, Dad's Garage bumps it up yet another notch. The annual WORLD DOMINATION THEATRESPORTS TOURNAMENT promises a "knock-down, drag-out improv battle of global magnitude!" – and includes not only Atlantans, but teams from New York, Canada and France. The "Pass and a Glass" special provides a seat at all six shows, a Dad's Garage pint glass, one free Terrapin draft per show and a solid plan for Labor Day weekend. Through Aug. 30. $8-$35. Never mind choosing one restaurant this weekend when you can sample from 19 of Atlanta's eateries under the big, beautiful trees of Grant Park. The SUMMER SHADE FESTIVAL celebrates its sixth annual gala with the return of Corks and Forks, a fine-food-and-wine event including Two Urban Licks, TAP, Rathbun's and Six Feet Under. The 4TH WARD AFRO-KLEZMER ORCHESTRA plays exactly what the name promises, a merger of Western and African rhythms and Klezmer-influenced song styles laid down by some of the best jazz hands in Atlanta. Under the direction of composer/trumpeter Roger Ruzow, the 10-piece ensemble barrels through original arrangements of traditional and exotic sounds. With so many players, 4WAKO features members of dozens of acts, including Noot d'Noot, Cadillac Jones and Gold Sparkle Band.
