Cakes and Ale

Tools

Run by chef Billy Allin and his wife, Kristin, this smart, casual restaurant knows how to bring farm ingredients to the table with flair. Frequently on 'Best of' lists, the restaurant has garnered national attention. Sweets and more next door at the Bakery at Cakes and Ale.
Community Q BBQ

Tools

At owner David Robert's (of Marietta's Sam & Dave's) Community Q table runners pinch your kids' cheeks, seem genuinely concerned whether you're enjoying your meal, and just "get" what it means to make someone feel at home in an establishment. And the food definitely doesn't hurt the impact. Pleasantly imperfect hand-cut french fries with slivers of skin left on are fried to a golden brown before being showered with a savory, sweet and smoky seasoning. The meat is tender and moist with that ethereal ring of pink and a nice coating of blackened bark. Brisket is so fork-tender it only takes a mere tug of the teeth to cut it.
Duck's Kitchen

Tools

Duck's is a small cafe tucked in back of East Decatur Station that serves killer sandwiches on freshly baked bread, a selection of pizzas and some of the best doughnuts we've ever tasted.
Raging Burrito - Decatur

Tools

A staple for dudes that wake up at noon and people with juror stickers on their shirts eating solo, the options are nearly endless to create gut-busting bean-based beauties. Get something jerk style and wash it down with a pitcher of one of the many different types of margaritas.
Steinbeck's Ale House

Tools

Upon first glance, you might dismiss this Irish-style pub in Oakhurst, just minutes from downtown Decatur, as nothing more than a small, comfy hole-in-the-wall with a nice outdoor patio. But the menu of slightly upscale bar food (try the Double Double burger) and Sunday brunch, not to mention the satisfying beer selection, are sure to change your mind.
Universal Joint

Tools

Great neighborhood meeting place with a pleasant patio in the heart of Oakhurst.
