Andrew Simon

The mind behind Woyzeck Atlanta

Atlanta actor, producer and director Andrew Simon has premiered a site-specific theatrical installation piece, Woyzeck Atlanta. The adaptation of Georg Büchner's renowned, unfinished 19th-century German play, Woyzeck, plays April 17-20 at the B Complex.

Arthur Nauzyciel: "I worked with this French director on a production that took place entirely in a parking garage and he completely changed what I understood theater to be. In addition to considering the effect that an environment can have on a piece of live theater, he made me think about character, design and storytelling in entirely new ways."

"This American Life": "Right now, I'm convinced that the most essential aspect of theater is telling a story and that's what this NPR program is: stories, organized around a specific theme each week, with the perfect amount and style of music to complete the program. This program finds truth, humor and pathos in wonderful, fascinating and heartbreaking stories and does it every week."

Podcasts: "For me, this is what the digital age should be all about. You can find informative, stimulating programming on any topic that interests you; produced by major media outlets or anyone that wants to make a podcast. And every single one is free. I like to listen to them while I ride my bike."

The New Yorker: "I got a subscription as a gift and when I expressed concern that I wouldn't be able to keep up with each week's publication, the benefactor described the magazine as being like an old friend with whom you're completely comfortable. When you feel up to it, you can dive into these massive articles and when you don't, you can just skim through and find the cartoons."

Leffe Blonde: "The best beer in the world, hands down. Those monks really know what they're doing."
