Of course, it isn't just bread on the table. Linton Hopkins, one of the country's finest chefs, writes menus that evoke the finer points of an author's work, creating something like a gastronomic translation. When James Beard award-winning food writer Mark Kurlansky came through town, Hopkins' menu was a nod to Kurlanky's expansive oeuvre, from Cuba libres that referenced his Caribbean writing to rillettes as smooth as his translation of The Belly of Paris.
