Atlanta History Center hosts Chilean author ISABEL ALLENDE. Inducted into the American Academy of Arts in 2004 for such well-regarded magical-realism works as The House of the Spirits and City of Beasts, Allende's résumé spans a wide array of literature, including several memoirs, novels and a trilogy of children's books. She discusses her latest, Island Beneath the Sea, a coming-of-age story of love, passion and identity in the life of heroine Zarité, a slave on the sugar plantations of 18th-century Caribbean island Santo Domingo. $5-$10. 7 p.m. 130 W.
