Books: R.A. Salvatore

Mon., Oct. 19

Though he invoked the ire of nerd-culture purists when he offed Chewbacca in the Star Wars literary spin-off Vector Prime, sci-fi author R.A. SALVATORE was only following orders straight from the source: George Lucas. In the nine years since, Salvatore has worked to redeem himself in the realm of fantasy, publishing numerous New York Times best-sellers. In the wake of the publication – and subsequent arrival on the best-seller list – of The Ghost King, Salvatore's final work in the Transitions trilogy, he signs books. His newest novel features Drizzt Do'Urden, the dark-elf hero from his recently reissued Cleric Quintet series, and Drizzt's evil foe, a demonic crystal shard he thought he'd destroyed. Free. 7:15 p.m. Decatur Library Auditorium, 215 Sycamore St., Decatur. 404-370-3070.
