Film: 'Satyritown: Surreel in Cabbagetown'

Fri., Feb. 5

Rose M. Barron's short film "SATYRITOWN: SURREEL IN CABBAGETOWN" presents the quirky neighborhood through an old-fashioned Super 8 camera lens at Eyedrum. The film opens with one of the area's most recognizable and artistic landmarks, the graffiti-filled Krog Street tunnel, preparing the audience for the artful journey that lies ahead. The grainy, unpolished footage exhibits the oft-described bohemian sanctuary in a new, slightly surreal light, allowing viewers to take a step back and experience the daily goings-on of the community as well as the former mill town's unique sights and sounds. In case you leave the event wanting, autographed copies of the feature will be on hand for purchase. Free, donations accepted. 7:30-9 p.m. 290 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive S.E., Suite 8. 404-522-0655.
