Film: Soundtrack for a Revolution

Fri., April 2

Imagine a time when songs were actually meaningful and more than just some catchy, ass-shakin' tune. Freedom songs like "We Shall Overcome" enabled African-Americans to sing words they could not say. In SOUNDTRACK FOR A REVOLUTION, directed by Bill Guttentag and Dan Sturman and executive-produced by Danny Glover, this powerful form of music is celebrated as the story of the Civil Rights Movement is told through song. Opening Fri., APRIL 2, the film features intriguing interviews from Rep. John Lewis and the phenomenal Harry Belafonte; provocative images of protestors; and exceptional musical performances by John Legend, Wyclef Jean, Joss Stone, the Roots and many more top artists. Through April 8. $7.50-$9. Fri.-Thurs., 7:30 p.m. Plaza Theatre, 1049 Ponce de Leon Ave. 404-873-1939.
