Film: Wise Blood

Monday, March 2

The Great Novels Made into Great Films series at Emory is showing John Huston's adaptation of WISE BLOOD by Flannery O'Connor. Both the book and film follow the exploits of cagey loner Hazel Motes as he attempts to found the Church Without Christ. Set in a small Southern town and filled with a cast of eccentrics, the plot quickly becomes that kind of tangled, Southern gothic clusterfuck we all love so well. Salman Rushdie, Emory's distinguished writer in residence, will briefly introduce the film. Free. 8 p.m. White Hall, Room 208, 480 Kilgo St. 404-727-6761. www.filmstudies.emory.edu.
