Georgia Theatre benefit, Nightmare of You and more

July 15 Wednesday

Ever since a fire burned down most of its interior almost a month ago, the Georgia Theatre has been busy with fundraisers and benefits to clean up and rebuild the venue. Taking a slightly different approach, Smith's Olde Bar will host the GEORGIA THEATRE EMPLOYEE BENEFIT, with all ticket sales and donations benefiting the hardworking employees of the music venue. Psychedelic rockers Outformation headline while Sonia Leigh, Shawn Haney, I'm Chinese and many others also perform. $5-$10. 7 p.m. Smith's Olde Bar, 1578 Piedmont Ave. 404-875-1522. www.smithsoldebar.com. July 16 Thursday

It seems that most of the pop/rock bands blowing up the charts today are signed by, or in some way affiliated with, Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz. HEY MONDAY is no exception; its debut album, Hold Tight, was released by Wentz's New York City-based independent label Decaydance Records in October 2008. The group is currently on the cross-country Let's Make a Mess Tour, lighting up stages all over the world. This Providence, Friday Night Boys and Stereo Skyline also perform. $12. 6 p.m. The Masquerade, 695 North Ave. 404-817-8700. www.ticketmaster.com. (Azia Squire)

July 20 Monday

Indie-pop rockers NIGHTMARE OF YOU come to Vinyl to support their new album, Infomanic, out next month. Heavily influenced by the Smiths and the Cure, this Long Island, N.Y., band says its sophomore LP has a more mature and adult feel than previous albums. The band's amazing live shows, Shakespearean lyrics, and catchy melodies have created a dedicated fanbase, not to mention nominations for the mtvU Woodie Awards for Best Tour and Most Downloaded. Plushgun, Brian Bonz and Aushua also perform. $10-$12. 7:30 p.m. Rival Entertainment, 1374 W. Peachtree St. 404-885-1365. www.vinylatlanta.com. (Sarah Bakhtiari)
