Soulja Boy Tell 'em: iSouljaBoyTellem

Much of iSouljaBoyTellem apes its predecessor, but "Turn My Swag On," is, get this, a power ballad. Though – like most of Soulja Boy Tell 'Em's production – the track sounds like it was made by your 10-year-old nephew on FruityLoops, he sings an inspirational message, the beat soars, and it's oddly moving and contains real food for thought. "I got a question/Why they hating on me?" he asks. And really, why do people from all corners of the globe hate on an 18-year-old who has almost single-handedly revolutionized the way rap music is consumed? The question demands an answer, and it comes immediately in the form of the next track, "Gucci Bandanna," which begins with the phrase "Gucci bandanna" repeated 16 times in a row (seriously). Such is Soulja Boy's M.O. He charms the pants off of you, except when he's annoying the life out of you. 2 stars.
