Theater: Blood Knot

Sun., July 12

The bonds of family and the tensions of race draw painfully tight in BLOOD KNOT, a charged drama by brilliant South African playwright Athol Fugard. Kenny Leon, artistic director of True Colors Theatre Company, and Tom Key, artistic director of Theatrical Outfit, play two half-brothers, one of whom can pass as white in Apartheid-era Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The Outfit's prior staging of the play was possibly Atlanta's best theatrical production of 1998, but the new one should get it up a few more notches under the direction of the Alliance Theatre's Susan V. Booth. Through Aug. 2. $20-$35. Wed.-Fri., 7:30 p.m.; Sat.-Sun., 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Balzer Theatre at Herren's, 84 Luckie St. 678-528-1500.
