Playwright Stephen Karam's Off-Broadway comedy hit SPEECH AND DEBATE follows three misfit high schoolers who meet in cyberspace and form a debate club to address a school sex scandal. Not technically a musical but a "comedy with music," Speech and Debate echoes real-life witch hunts with its setting of Salem, Ore., and a plot point involving a song-and-dance version of The Crucible.
