Lunch pick of the week

Posted by Besha Rodell on Thu, May 24, 2007 at 2:46 PM

A few weeks back, our departing Assistant A&E Editor Casey McIntyre told me about 5th Earl Market, the new spot near Agnes Scott on College Avenue in Decatur. So I swindled her into writing a Cheap Eats article about it. This week I tried it myself, with delicious results. For you salt and Spanish fiends, the chorizo sandwich is a must-have. But man, it's salty! I also loved the grilled veggie sandwich. It's not fair that Decatur gets both 5th Earl and Duck's Cosmic Kitchen! The rest of Atlanta deserves sandwiches this good!

I know, the best sandwich places in in my part of Midtown - such as West Egg, Toscano, Star Provisions - are not open in the evening. And after dealing with Atlanta traffic, I'm not in the mood to drive to Decatur for a sandwich. I wish there were places like that closer to Midtown open for dinner. There's the Vortex, but it's best sandwiches are really rich and I'm not always in the mood. Hopefully I can make it over to the 5th Earl Market one day.

Great food. Cool atmosphere. Big menu. Try the sauces to go and ask the bartender to pick out a micro brew for you.
