Food & the big screen

Posted by Besha Rodell on Thu, Aug 9, 2007 at 9:52 PM

I went to see Ratatouille for the second time last night, and although it's old news, I want to say how much I love this movie. It has all the right things to say about food and cooks, and although I have some issues with the way the restaurant critic is portrayed in the film, his food awakening is so moving it almost brought me to tears.

You can read my discussion about Ratatouille with CL film critic Curt Holman here.

A few weeks later, Felicia Feaster and I took on the other summer food movie, No Reservations, based on the German movie Mostly Martha. I was less impressed. You can read that conversation here.

What are your favorite food movies?

The best food movie, no question, is "Babette's Feast". Do you remember when there was a local Atlanta restaurant offering up the exact meal prepared in the film?

BIG NIGHT is the best movie wrapped around a one night dinner. I get hungry just thinking about it.
