Here's some bad news via an email from "Kali": "Rare restaurant on Piedmont burned down last night, apparently, and took some of the Midtown Tavern with it. (Which is a shame because the MT was one of those bars that actually cared about having decent food on its menu, and pretty much succeeded.)"
Rare was a charming space that served soul-food tapas. I haven't been able to get the full story yet, but I hope they'll be able to rebuild.

I never even got to go there and I really wanted to. Please keep us updated
That's too bad. I hope they rebuild. I did check out Social House today finally and it was soooooo good. Their New Orleans Bread Pudding is a new fave of mine now :)
Those of you who did not get a chance to eat there should consider yourselves lucky. I used to work in the kitchen and it was disgusting back there. I tried my best to adhere to good sanitation procedures, but there is only so much you can do with no hot water and improper food storage containers. ( They were storing your food in dirty bus tubs the tubs servers put dirty dishes in....sick) I heard it was an electrical fire im not surprised every time we turned on the heat lamps the fridge went out and the lights flickered when we turned on the dish washing machine. Or maby the owner burned it down and collected the insurance money. They were not doing so well after me and some others quit including the head chef.. Im sorry about the tavern tho i liked that place.
