Lick on this, amigos

Summer's an excuse to spend a few months wallowing in ice cream. Here's a unique addition to the city's menu this year:

From June 25 through July 20, diners can indulge in Rosa Mexicano’s Festival de Helados, featuring an assortment of ice creams, sorbets and postres de helado (ice cream desserts) that celebrate the traditional flavors of Mexico.

Among Culinary Director Susana Trilling's creations are: Aguacate con Mantequilla, salted butter avocado; Chocolate Oaxaqueno, Oaxacan chocolate with rum, raisins and almonds; Tascalate, cacao, achiote, pilioncillo and corn; Maracuya, passion fruit; and Mango Flameado, mango and rum. Sorbets offer guests a lighter option with flavors like Chia con Limon, Mexican chia seed and lemon; and Vampire Sorbet, which gets its intense red color and sweet flavor from beets.

The restaurant's usual desserts, including the rococo guacamole, made tableside with avocado-butter ice cream, will also be available.
