Spoon coming to East Atlanta

Posted by Cliff Bostock on Mon, Jun 16, 2008 at 8:14 PM

Here's some good news for East Atlanta and Grant Park. Spoon, the killer Thai cafe in west Atlanta, is opening a new location at 749 Moreland Ave., according to the rumor mill. It will be located in the space vacated by Salsa Havana, behind Azio's.

It's about time that Salsa Havana went belly up. Spoon may work for the pedestrians b/c they don't do Thai hot. Yawn.

I hope this is true. I love Spoon and I think this part of town is sorely lacking in any decent Thia food. I will definitely go at least once a week.

They've talked about expanding for some time, and I've been glad it hadn't happened. Not to be the pessimist, but my fear is that the quality at the original location--in MY neighborhood--will suffer, as has happened at so many chef-driven restaurants that expanded beyond their original location. A chef can't be in two places at once.

That's also great news for Ormewood Park, as that's the neighborhood in which Spoon would be located. Sweet!
