A menu preview

The Porter, a new gastro-pub coming to 1156 Euclid Ave. in Little Five Points, has posted its menus on a new website. The restaurant's owners, two former employees of the defunct Seeger's, are hoping for a September opening.

The menu looks very tantalizing. Take a look here.

It looks great. But one nit pick - before they print the menu, can they change the word "Sammies"? At this point it's not cute, it's just kind of dumb. Since when does the word "Sandwiches" not do a good enough job?

Oh for the love of Mike, please take the "Sammies" off the menu. Despite how good the food looks, I probably won't go just because of that. Call me a reverse snob if you like...welcome to the 'hood!

Where's the beer list? :-) Is this going to be located in the Chevron station? That's what Google shows for the address.

I think it will be at the old Grandma Luke's spot. Grandma Luke's comes up as the same address. This past weekend I saw some marketing company doing something to the boarded windows. Then again, some marketing company is always doing something in little 5.

Ditto on the "sammies."

I get the same shudders when I read the word 'sammies' as I do when I read someone refer to pizza as 'za' or to foodies as 'grubbers'. I hope they'll change it too. Nonetheless the menu looks good and I'm happy to see some German food on it. It'll be interesting to see how this place goes over in what has proven to be a kinda difficult spot for restaurants.
