Update: La Pietra Cucina is alive

Posted by Cliff Bostock on Mon, Sep 15, 2008 at 6:47 PM

I called La Pietra Cucina today, after finding it closed Saturday night. It turns out they are open for lunch and dinner Monday through Friday only for now. When they move into the larger space in mid-October, they'll open weekends too.

Meanwhile: Go!

UPDATE: Okay, I give up. I just had a friend call La Pietra and ask what time the restaurant closes tonight. Whoever answered the phone said -- a few hours after telling me they were open Monday through Friday -- that "a decision has been made" not to open Monday night. However, he told my friend, if he'd make a reservation for tonight, they'd stay open. Whatever!

We went here for lunch today. I had the pappardelle bolognese and my wife had the tagliatelle with corn and mushrooms. Both were really excellent. Both the food and the service here are really impressive. The decor is blandly unimpressive but I assume they're still working on it. It was certainly more money than I would usually pay for lunch (they were $14 each) and I don't see myself going back here for anything other than dinner unless they develop a less expensive lunch menu, but I enjoyed this as an odd splurge.
