This study in brown is the 22-oz. Kansas City strip steak, with Merlot-cooked mushrooms, at Parker's on Ponce (116 East Ponce de Leon Ave., 404-924-2230).

We visited the new steakhouse, in the former location of Mick's in Dectatur, last week and a had a decent meal. While I have no complaints about the steak, I can't recommend the other entree we sampled -- seared sesame-encrusted tuna with wasabi-spiked mashed potatoes and asparagus. The tuna's texture was unpleasantly chewy and stringy.

We did love the bourbon-drenched, white-chocolate bread pudding. The onion soup, an Irish version made with guiness and cheddar cheese, was also enjoyable.

More in this week's Grazing column.
