Southern Living magazine has published its annual Readers' Choice awards. Restaurants competed in three categories: Best Brunch, Southern Favorites and Splurge-Worthy.
Only one Atlanta restaurant, the splurge-worthy Bone's, was among the top 10 in any category.
The Dillard House in Dillard was cited for best brunch and as a Southern favorite. In the latter category, The Lady and Sons and Mrs. Wilkes' Dining Room, both in Savannah, also placed, along with the Blue Willow Inn in Social Circle.
More proof of the, um, fallibility of "best of" awards.

Fallibility is right. I had heard raves about the Dillard House and was utterly disappointed in the over boiled, over cooked, under flavored garbage that was served for an astronomical price. What a tourist trap!
Broad "Readers Choice" awards sometimes come across like asking someone in Borneo who the best football team in the NFL is. The Angus Barn in Raleigh as the 2nd most splurge-worthy? For the love of f'n doughnuts!!!! I'd floss with chicken-wings before going back there. But take all food-elitism out of it. This is what everyday diners want- A big, prime, cut. Fancy home cookin. Stuff they recognize, but "fancy". If these were the critics picks, I'd be worried. (Seeing Stone Mountain as #7 for Best View weirds me out more than any food picks)
