Michael Tuohy, former chef-owner of Woodfire Grill, received a rave review for his new Sacramento, Calif., restaurant, Grange Restaurant and Bar. Among comments made by the Sacramento Bee's dining critic:
Tuohy pretty much had me at hello, slipping into town with a reputation as one of Atlanta's best chefs and as a pioneer in that city's farm-to-table and Slow Food movement. After 22 years in Atlanta, the Bay Area native sold his widely admired Woodfire Grill over the summer and headed west.
He was a key hire for the San Francisco-based Joie de Vivre Hotels. The restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch, will anchor the new 198-room Citizen Hotel. (Grange was already decided upon as the name, but it cleverly reflects Tuohy's way of thinking; it refers to the fraternal organization formed by 19th century American farmers.)

Cliff, I am by no means a nit-picker, but aside from reading said article on the link, it really says nothing about Tuohy's influence on our dining scene. It's fairly gushing about how he earned his chops faraway. Might as well say: "Atlanta??? No one eats there. Care for a wing?"
Michael Touhy earned more than his "chops" in Atlanta. Michael brought fresh ideas and a wonderful culinary flare that will be greatly missed. He is perfectionist with every detail from menu to kitchen to service. Don't be such a snob, Atlantan's know great food whether at home or elsewhere. No one will be suprised at the number of Atlantan's that will visit Michael's new restaurant in the future. We know the quality to expect and Californian's are fortunate to have had him return home.
