Do you read books?

Posted by Cliff Bostock on Mon, Jan 19, 2009 at 9:48 PM

This is from a news release:

Danneman’s, the popular new coffee shop in the Old Fourth Ward, now offers customers the chance to receive a free medium cup of regular coffee in return for bringing in a gently used book to help stock its lending library. Customers can “check out” books from the library on the honor system, and bring the books back when they are finished.

Customers are also welcome to linger with their books at Danneman’s while enjoying the locally roasted coffee, freshly baked pastries and breakfast foods, and selection of sandwiches and salads. The retro-nostalgic coffee shop, housed in a two-story historic brick building, is also a free WiFi hotspot.

Old Fourth Ward resident Joe Stewardson and co-owner Kate Pedrick opened the playful and inviting neighborhood coffee shop in the summer of 2008. Open daily, Danneman’s also hosts an array of events and art openings, modern dance classes, Tango milonga’s, open-mic nights, DJs, live music, and more on its spacious second floor. The second floor is also available to rent for special events and private parties.

Danneman’s coffee shop is just one of the latest additions supporting the ongoing revitalization of the Old Fourth Ward’s Auburn/Edgewood Commercial District. It is located at the corner of Boulevard and Edgewood Ave. (466 Edgewood Ave., 404-380-1393).
