This dish at La Pietra Cucina is the best thing I've eaten in a few weeks -- and that includes meals at Craft and Market.
It's agnolotti, a ravioli-like pasta stuffed with house-made sausage, submerged in a mild broth with bits of winter chestnuts and garnished with sliced truffles.
Chef Bruce Logue offered the dish as a special on Friday.
It's perfect in just about every way. Texturally, it ranges from juicy, melt-in-your mouth, to crisp. Flavors were mainly earthy, from the sharp sausage, to the musky truffles. But they were interrupted here and there with an explosion of sweetness in the chestnuts.
Do not fail to order this if you find it on the menu!

La Pietra Cucina sounds great. I only wish one of the reviewers who keep heaping praise on it would give directions. Other entries show the address as 1545 Peachtree, but I've driven completely around this building without seeing a sign for the restaurant. And no restaurant website has been posted (as far as I have seen) in any of the reviews; nor does one come up in a Google search for "La Pietra Cucina Atlanta." Cliff, if you check these comments, can you just give some quick directions on where to look for the restaurant, so I can enjoy what you've been enjoying?
Joe, These are the directions I gave to my out-of-town friends who found it without any trouble: La Pietra Cucina is at 1545 Peachtree, just north of where Peachtree and W. Peachtree come together. There is a big bend in the road there as well. It is in the same building as Jolie bakery (which has a sign), in the space where MidCity Cuisine used to be. If you are standing on busy Peachtree facing the building, LPC is over to the left behind the patio furniture. There is a pathetic 8.5x11 sign taped on the door. Alternatively, if you are standing between 1545 and 1555 Peachtree in the car-accessible plaza, LPC is in the building closer to Peachtree. Take the elevator down to Level 1 and walk into what appears to be an empty restaurant on your right. You should be able to see the kitchen and hostess from there. It is absolutely worth the trip, and I actually like the intimate feel of the restaurant as it is. It is truly all about the food. Good luck, Joe.
