The much-awaited Varasano's Pizzeria is on the verge of opening in Buckhead. Staff has been training and cocktails have been tested, according to gossip on Facebook. The hysteria is building. Soon, Flip will be so yesterday.

I've read so much about this place, it best take my back to my childhood growing up in NY. I've learned to eat most pizza and accept it for what it is - NY STYLE pizza, as opposed to NY pizza because I've set my expecations lower. My expectations are ridiculously high for this place and nothing short of PERFECTION will be acceptable. I know that may not be fair of me, but I'm just stating my opinion.
I hope that they open before the 25th. I would like to try this fabled pizza before I leave.
I'm anxious to try these much hyped pizza. Despite what many in Atlanta think, the bar for great pizza has been set very high here with the flag bearer, to me, being Fortunato's. Also, Fritti's new pizza chef warrants your attention as well. That being said I welcome a new player on the scene and can't wait to try these pies.
I look forward to seeing how he makes these pizzas while at the same time the masses are washing his feet
They have a lot to live up to. If they're better than Fritti, it may (stress MAY) be worth the trip to uber posh B'head. Otherwise I'll stick to Ricardo's delicious pizza's at Fritti.
I agree with Stacey. Is anybody going to give him a honest review? Seems he has swooned every blogger with visits to his house parties. Will they be honest with visions of no more "special" invites for the greatest pizza in the WORLD???
i hope this place is not all hype. with all the publicity if its packed as flip. no way they are going to be able to serve that many pizzas.
seems to me that all the press will do mr varasano no good. especially if he cant handle the crowd from the get go
If you can't wait, and you are out in the Stone Mountain area, you should try Slice-O-Rama. They serve real New York style pizza. It's the closest I can get when I'm away from home. It's a little hard to find, but it's directly in front of the Lowe's Home store.
What was the story we heard as little kids, about the boy who cried wolf? Jeff Varasano and his "best pizza ever" turned me off as soon as the pre-opening reviews of private dinners started appearing, and people like The Social Butterfly started falling all over themselves to shout his praises from the rooftops. If the earliest feedback I've heard from Yelp friends and others is true, Mr. Varasano seems to be doing a lot to help places like Pizza Fusion get the business they deserve rather than to wow us Atlanta pizza lovers. The jury's out whether this blogger and pizza fan will pay him a visit, just to find out if it's all been huffing and puffing or if there's any substance to his pies.
