Based on this mention by Cliff, we tried all-you-can-eat Mussels Night at Peasant. With the "bottomless" glass of wine option (actually the limit is four glasses), it's $25. My Belgian fiancee and I have eaten more than our share of what some consider Belgium's national dish, and we both declared these mussels delicious. Not the most heavily spiced or sauced mussels in the world--we would have preferred more assertive flavor and a larger pool of liquid in the bottom--but they were at least some nice plump mussels and neither over nor under-cooked, which is apparently harder to find in a restaurant than one might believe. They were served on a bed of angel hair pasta, which we ignored in favor of sopping some of the sauce with the very nice bread chunks provided. The pasta and light saucing took them out of the Belgian style, but hey, the Peasant doesn't advertise them as Belgian style. Also, fries/frites instead of (or in addition to) bread would have been nice, but frites are not even on the menu. We totally took advantage of the bottomless glass of wine, drinking four of what was probably a pretty average sauvignon blanc or pinot grigio, and we each managed three helpings of mussels. I'd estimate that each serving is about a half pound or slightly more, so it takes at least three if not four to equal the full kilo serving that you'd get in Europe. We preferred these mussels to both The Porter's and Leon's, though we are suckers for Leon's authentic enameled mussel pots.
