Sad news: Nak Dong Gang closes

Posted by Jennifer Zyman on Thu, Apr 23, 2009 at 8:42 PM

Nak Dong Gang, which I reviewed in a recent Cheap Eats, closed its doors this week. I have been unable to reach the owners for any details regarding the sudden closing, but a friend went over today and confirmed the Korean duck restaurant's fate.

I don't agree. We went with a group of 5 and paid about $17 each (after tax and tip) for a whole duck, seafood pancake, 2 orders of juk, sodas, tea and all the panchan we could eat.

Terrible news. First, Tasty China's Phuong disappears without a trace and now this.

Yeah. Phuong being gone the past few weeks has been sad for those of us who enjoyed her unusual brand of hospitality. I have asked where she is numerous times and gotten 4 different answers...

I demand that someone give me credit for being the first to point out that they were probably closed. Sorry, bad joke, and most likely too far inside of a joke for anyone to get. At any rate, I'm feeling pretty angry that I didn't get to go there before they closed. I tried everything I could to get into the building to see if they had any duck left so that I could cook it myself or something. Damn.

I hit Tasty yesterday. Still no Phuong, but the food was spot on.
