Food Snark of the Day

Phil Mutz gets the Food Snark of the Day award for this Facebook comment:

Phil Mutz thinks Five Guys is the most over-priced made-to-order fast food ever. If it weren't for French fries dusted with crack, I'd never eat here.

I don't really agree. When I go to Five Guys, I want a burger to take out, and some fries. They're tasty, and I can eat them when I get home. I'm not wanting something big and elaborate and fancy. And it's nothing like getting a $12 burger at the Majestic that isn't even as good.

Never saw the big deal about the fries at Five Guys.. They seem like the perfect example of why you should always blanch first, to avoid all that burned starch on the outside. McDonald's fries are light years ahead of Five Guys. Love the Five Guys burgers, though.

I agree that the fries are a testament to why they should be blanched first. I also am in a constant state of disenchantment about the fries in this city, for no matter how many "best french fries" articles CL posts, the fact is that they're all still garbage. Someone needs to step their game up and do 'em right. Just my opinion.
