Hurry to Taqueria del Sol this week to enjoy the last of this year's crop of New Mexico green chiles. The chile relleno, available only at dinner for $3.99, is flawless. Fried in panko, stuffed with white cheese and served over salsa frita, two or three make a complete meal.
By the way, they are not on the menu. You have to ask for them.

I'm fascinated to learn that I am boycotting Whole Foods.
Stood in line at the Decatur location last week just for the rellenos. "Flawless" is not a word I would use to describe them, although they were good. (I thought the batter/breading- which was not recognizable as panko- was a bit thick for the tenderness of the chili.) In any case my companion and I were not sure that they were worth the wait, especially considering the daycare atmosphere. (about 7:30 pm midweek)
