Au Rendez Vous is probably the least expensive French restaurant in town. Kiet Jean-Claude Changivy is its Vietnamese, Paris-trained owner-chef. He serves simple, country-French fare in a dining room that feels very makeshift but charms the hell out of you, anyway.
Favorite dishes: My favorite is the cassoulet. Classics like boeuf bourguignon and coq au vin are also quite satisfying. 1328 Windsor Pkwy., 404-303-1968.
We will be counting down Cliffs Top 10 Favorites every day between now and Oct. 21, the day our Food Issue 2009 launches. Check back tomorrow for Number 7.

Everytime I go to Au Rendez Vous I think of when, in the 70's, it was a little quickie mart where we could purchase bags of weed at the intersection. Oh, the days of nickles ($5), dimes ($10) lids ($15) and ounces ($40).
Have you ever reviewed this place? I love French dives and this is the first I've heard of it! I'm excited to try and feel like I may have been deprived for all of these years...
Cliff! What? Really? Went here on Fri night based on this post... what's up with the weird salad? Greens, balsamic and tomatoes - fine. But add mayonnaise-based potato salad and crushed peanuts? Yuck. Plus canned corn soup and frozen vegetables on the side that were fresh out of the microwave? The main portions of the entrees were good, but the rest was s-t-r-a-n-g-e.
