is the stage for recent Top Chef contestant Hector Santiago to perform his avant-garde magic with tapas. No other chef in the city gets quite as successfully crazy with the form. Faves have included the duck confit with caramelized plantains and steamed coconut buns filled with pork belly, cabbage and pickled chilies.
Favorite dish: Santiagos mofongo, a Puerto Rican specialty, was my absolute favorite here for years. 656 N. Highland Ave. 404-870-9797. www.puravidatapas.com

Love this place. Had both of those faves just the other night. Great to see Santiago get the respect he deserves.
Sucks.. Maybe it was the time that I went, but this place is not on the top of my list. I went with a bunch of friends and we ordered nearly everything on the menu. The presentation was great, as is the atmosphere.. but the food is very dull and bland. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, but then again first impressions go a long way with me.
