Omnivore - Two big lobster tails, $21
Hong Kong Harbor still a bargain
My “Grazing” column this week will be devoted mainly to some restaurants I haven’t visited in quite a while, including Hong Kong Harbor (2184 Cheshire Bridge Rd., 404-325-7630).
I used to eat here constantly. It was among the first — not the very first — authentic Chinese restaurants to open in Midtown. My favorites for a long time were the salt-and-pepper squid and the oysters in black bean sauce.
During my visit last week, I ordered this special of two large lobster tails served with a ginger-scallion sauce. This is usually based on an oyster sauce, not my fave, and I asked if the kitchen could just play with ginger and scallions and, above all, leave out soy sauce.
The result was a quite delicious, light sauce. The lobster, hacked into pieces, was a bit problematic, but certainly a bargain at $21. Check in later this week.
