Tres leches and tostadas

This is one of my favorite desserts on the planet, tres leches cake. The name is Spanish for the "three milks" that saturate the cake: condensed milk, evaporated milk and whole cream.

The dessert is popular throughout Latin America. It usually addicts people instantly. My friend Brad Lapin, for example,  had his first taste of it at Eclipse di Luna a couple of months ago and has been maniacally making his own perfect version ever since.

The pictured cake was the conclusion of a recent meal at Across the Street. Although the cake was a bit dryer than the usual, it was polish-the-plate good.

My favorite dish of the meal was a pair of tostadas topped with shrimp and the usual condiments (right).

Check out "Grazing" later this week for more of my opinion.

Let's not forget the Margaritas. Across The Street is my favorite neighborhood hangout. Wonderful people, great food.

I'm a BIG fan of Tierra's tres leches cake — how does it compare?

Everytime I go to Across the Street I am surprised by my experience. Not only do I experience excellent hospitality but the food is always delicious. ATS' margaritas are the best and they have an excellent wine list. You must try their shrimp enchilada! While I'm not a fan of most Mexican fish entrees, this enchilada is savory and luscious. Moist tres leche cake? ATS' is the moistest I've ever had...even in Mexico! I love this quaint little place!

This is one of my most favorite restaurants in Atlanta!!!! I can't get enough of the food & the margaritas(they are made with good tequilas, not that Pepe Lopez garbage)!!! Oh and it has a great vibe! They have something on the menu for everyone, even yummy vegetarian food. My favs are the tacos, the veggie chimichanga and the la cazuela... oh, and brunch on the back patio on the weekends is a nice way to enjoy Atlanta weather and have a tasty meal. :) I recommend this place...You gotta try it!!!
