Free cake, cheap gourmet, Top Bard

Tierra is now offering a free serving of tres leches cake to each table on Thursday nights. The restaurant will celebrate its 11th anniversary on Feb. 15 with free champagne and more tres leches cake.

And this week, the restaurant is serving a special of Peruvian green rice -- that's dark beer, duck broth, culantro and Valencia rice -- with roasted duck breast....

From the Art Institute of Atlanta:

"Creations, the teaching dining room of the culinary arts program at The Art Institute of Atlanta, is offering a new style, a new menu, and a new experience. You’ll find more flexible choices and a whole range of new international and down-home flavors. Prices are lower, too!

"Lunch is served from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, Thursday and Friday. Choose from an à la carte menu of soups, salads, sandwiches, entrees, and home-style desserts. Examples are Cuban black bean soup and butternut squash bisque; spinach, chopped, or Greek salads; sandwiches from the Creations Burger to grilled vegetables on rustic sourdough; entrees from Shrimp Tagliatelle to roasted chicken or beef stew. Prices range from $2.50 for a cup of soup to $6.50 - $8.50 for salads and sandwiches and  $3.95 for desserts. All entrées are under $10.

"Dinner is served from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, Thursday and Friday. The à la carte menu at dinner offers more than 20 internationally themed small plates priced at $3 to $6 each, perfect for sharing and tasting.

"Reservations are no longer required for either lunch or dinner, although they are accepted for dinner. Prices do not include beverages, tax, or gratuity. Several wines are available by the glass or the bottle, as well as a number of beers to complement your meal.

"Woodfire Grill's executive  chef (and Top Chef finalist) Kevin Gillespie is offering his skills to benefit Georgia Shakespeare. Chef Kevin will prepare a one-of-a-kind. four-course meal complemented by premium, hand-picked wines selected by Woodfire Grill co-owner and director of  the "Wine Spectator Award of Excellence" wine program, Nick Quinones.  Between courses, patrons will enjoy Shakespeare-inspired love songs sung by Georgia Shakespeare artists Courtney Patterson, Hudson Adams, Eugene H. Russell IV, Naima Carter Russell, and others.
