Omnivore - Fair Eats Campaign
This Saturday sees the launch of the Fair Eats campaign, which seeks to highlight and celebrate local restaurants that are committed to treating their workers with dignity.
Show your server some love the usual way: money. Not by tipping them more (although that’s always welcome), but by supporting them as they ask for a raise in the minimum wage, which has been $2.19 for the past 19 years.
Sound unfair? Support the Wages Act HR 2570, sponsored by Rep Donna Edwards. The bill would raise the tipped minimum way to $3.75 initially, then $5.00 in 2011 and $5.50 by July 2012.
